Building affordable homes on a former commercial property

Last year we shared illustrations of our project, Williamson Gardens in North Reddish, Stockport, which had started construction and just last month we were pleased to see this development complete.

Being located within an established residential area, the site was previously occupied by a commercial sign business, which relocated to a more suitable site within the local area that had better access and more space and additionally created more local employment opportunities.

Our brief was to develop affordable 2 bed family homes of quality design and good specification.

We developed designs for 6 new affordable homes, utilising the maximum site area available, providing bright and modern living spaces. The development was designed to fit in well with the surrounding context in terms of both design and materials.

Externally, the design pays homage to the previous industrial use of the site by the unique use of brick and zinc cladding externally. We also incorporated a private landscaped communal garden area into the design to ensure a fabulous living environment, whilst maintaining security and privacy for the occupants and neighbours.

The development sold immediately following completion, highlighting the success and desirability of this quality housing project.
